| Barberis
A Little History
The Barberis family traces its involvement in the textile business back to 1663. For over three centuries without a break, this remarkable family has maintained an unshakeable commitment to the business, creating strong ties between factory, family and the local community. Today, it is the largest producer of high quality cloths in all of Italy.
It All Begins With the Wool
The exquisite wools used by Barberis have their origin in Australia, where Merino sheep are bred under the strictest of regimens on farms owned by Barberis or with which they have exclusive arrangements. The wool contains no trace of dark fiber and must be free of contamination. It must have a superior soft hand. But that is only the beginning…
Lanificio Zegna

Lanificio Zegna was founded by Ermenegildo Zegna in 1910. Although starting out with only a small mill and a few looms, the young entrepreneur immediately set himself a very ambitious task: to compete in terms of quality with the world-leading British textile manufacturers. Today, Lanificio Zegna employs 450 people and produces around 2 million metres of fabric a year, much of which is made exclusively for the Ermenegildo Zegna collections. Customers also include the world’s top ready-to-wear labels and best designers and Brands, the most skilful tailors from all over the world. The complete production process is carried out at the Mill – from raw material selection to finishing. Commitment to quality and the use of modern technology to back up artisan craftsmanship is the living tradition linking past, present and future.
Holland & Sherry

From its conception, over 170 years ago, Holland & Sherry has continued to supply prestigious tailors and luxury brands with the finest cloth. In 1836 Stephen George Holland & Frederick Sherry began the business as woollen merchants at 10 Old Bond Street, London, specialising in both woollen and silk cloths. 1886 saw Holland & Sherry moved premises to Golden Square, at the time the epicentre of the woollen merchanting trade.
By 1900 the firm was exporting to many countries and around that time a sales office was established in New York. In the early part of the twentieth century, the United Kingdom, Europe, North and South America were the dominant markets for the company. Amongst other distribution arrangements, there was a Holland & Sherry warehouse in St. Petersburg, Russia, a successful market prior to the revolution and now being successfully renewed.

In1842, when Jules Dormeuil opened his doors to the cloth trade, he could have hardly envisaged the inception of a business that through economic and political challenges would eventually span across the world's five contenents, emerging 164-years later as purveyors of the worlds' finest fabrics, still under the management and owenership of the founding family. This is the House of Doreuil.
At the mere age of 22, Jules Dormeuil, with his instinctive business insight saw the potential of importing English cloth to sell in France. In 1858, as his inspiration developed, he was joined by his two brothers, Alfred and Auguste. The company expanded year by year and in 1863 took on the name, Dormeuil Treres-Domrmeuil Brothers, with cloth now being axported from Africa to Asia.
